Old Cornish stressed /oi/ followed by two consonants became ['ɤ],
as in toim 'warm' (VC.856) > tumm.
One may ask why the ['ɔɪ] in the above English loan-words did not behave similarly.
It may be that the quality of the diphthong was slightly different, but note iunt (BM.0857),
which is from English joint with similar reduction of the diphthong.
This did not happen to coynt, for the result would be an obscenity.
